Germany is calling upon the IT industry in Pune to invest in its digitalisation programme,particularly in the mining and steel industry.

Germany woos Pune IT sector

* GERMANY is calling upon the IT industry in Pune to invest in its digitalisation programme,particularly in the mining and steel industry. The invitation was extended by Joachim Kiefaber,state secretary,Ministry of economics and science of Saarland,Germany,one among the 16 federal states of Germany. Kiefaber inaugurated Indiasoft 2011,an international IT event,in the city on March 25. Kiefaber expressed the hope that the event would provide a platform for German and Indian companies to know each other’s capabilities,expertise and requirements so as to strengthen cooperation in outsourcing,technology acquisition and for forging collaborations.

Four Points by Sheraton on Nagar Road

* NAGAR Road is turning out to be a lucrative haunt for hoteliers. The latest one to come up is Four Points by Sheraton. JHM Interstate Hotels India,which runs the hotels,is looking at Pune as a major market. HM interstate executive director Llyod Lauland said the Pune market was “sizeable and big.” While JHM will provide providing staff and services,the hotel is owned by Duet India Hotels,a developer of mid-scale and upscale hotels. The Four Points hotel offers apartments for corporate travellers,” said Lauland.

Penna Cement forays into state

* PENNA Cement Industries Ltd (PCIL),Hyderabad based-cement manufacturer,has entered the western region with the launch of its cement products in the state. The company is planning to set up a packaging unit at Panvel in the state with an investment of around Rs 100 crore. Sridhar Reddy,president-marketing,Penna Cement,said the company has started six branches and depots in Mumbai,Pune Solapur,Nashik,Kolhapur and Ahmednagar.

Spring summer collection from Turtle

* Turtle,a menswear brand,launched its spring summer collection at one of its showrooms onLaxmi Road in the city. The collection comprises a variety of utility garments,said a press release.

Tain gets integrated system certification

TAIN,a Pune-based real estate firm,has been awarded integrated management system certification by Transpacific Certifications. Tain has introduced online facility to sell the buildings it constructs. Tanveer Inamdar,chief executive officer,Tain,said,“We are the only construction company in India that deals with residential and commercial projects which has received the certification.”
