The Cabinet meeting last Friday saw a good number of UPA bigwigs back from electioneering in their constituencies. So one obvious question on everyone’s lips was each other’s poll prospects. The other obvious question, which no one was asking, was who all of them would return and on which side of the fence. So with the Congress-RJD ties not exactly rosy, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Science and Technology Minister Kapil Sibal sought out Rural Development Minister and senior RJD leader Raghuvansh Prasad Singh for insider inputs on how many seats Lalu Prasad Yadav would be able to win in Bihar. Though Singh refrained from quoting any number, he reportedly cautioned the Congress leaders against concluding that Lalu was over. We would win more seats than what the media and Congress were calculating, Singh was said to have told the duo.
