  • A 25-year-old software professional was found dead in his rented apartment in Noida on Sunday morning. According to the police, Convord Domini Xavier, a resident of Jharkhand, was stabbed on the left side of his chest. Xavier had been living in Sector 27 for the past year.

Dheeraj Mandal, another tenant of the house, said: “Last night, when I knocked the door, he said he was feeling sleepy and did not want me to stay on. Generally, we used to spend time together in the evening.” The body was spotted by Mandal around 8 am.

According to the police, Xavier was a technical support officer with the HCL call centre in Sector 58. “The front door of the house was locked but the back door was open. It seems to be the work of someone who had a friendly entry,” said SP(City) Ashok Tripathi. He said Xavier’s mobile phone and company identity card were missing. The police said a room in the house was used as a prayer room. “Prayers used to be organised on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We are interrogating some people in this regard,” said Tripathi. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
