  • A 25-year-old call centre employee was found strangled at her paying guest accommodation in Gautam Nagar, South Delhi, late Wednesday afternoon. The victim, Shalini Saxena, was strangulated with the wire of her cellphone (Nokia) charger.

The police said her clothes were in disarray, which leads them to suspect the involvement of a “love angle”. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) H G S Dhaliwal, however, said there were no injuries indicating any struggle or sexual assault.

The police said Saxena was alone at the PG when the incident occurred — her roommate found the body on her return home at 4.45 pm. The room, police officials said, was not locked: the roommate walked straight in, before running out screaming in fright. A bystander then called the police.

The area houses many students and working women, who stay primarily as paying guests.

“The entry into the room was friendly and we suspect someone who knew the victim murdered her,” DCP Dhaliwal said. “A case of murder has been registered as of now; the matter is being probed further.”

He said the police have not detained or arrested anyone till now.

A senior officer said, “We have recovered some letters from her room and are scanning them. We are also looking at all recent phone calls and text messages sent out and received on her phone.”

According to the police, Saxena worked at a call centre in Gurgaon and had been staying as a paying guest at E-69/1, Gautam Nagar, for the past six months. The PG accommodation is on the first floor, and three girls each stay in the two rooms.

Career and crime By: Balumuthu | 11-Sep-2008 Reply | Forward It is too early, going by the report, to definitely conclude on a love angle to the crime. But it is true that many boys and girls, now in lakhs, working predominantly in the software industry, get into the trap of romantic adventures without any mature idea of what romance is about. Since tradition runs deep in their blood, they never bother to know that the premarital adventures are in most cases unworkable for them, since career, home ties and relations with unknown people made 'lovers' suddenly, make a horrible admitxure.. Even in the West, where promiscuity is permitted widely in society, such premarital relations, so ubiquitously and irresponsibly forced by ensnaring ads in media and other methods, lead to crimes involving the partners, and far less often to a married life, with the result that the whole society is in tatters, due to tearing apart of families and insoluble problems flowing from it.
Murder of a Call centre femaleBy: shariff | 11-Sep-2008 Reply | Forward Again an incident whcih clearly shows that how the present young generation take life so easy and trust anyone who comes n their life.Ages are gone where Teens where under view of their parents. Its good that they come out of the close world and want to prpve what there are but it doesn'nt mean that to trust all in all.
Call centre woman murdered in S Delhi flatBy: Umesh Chandra Thakuria | 11-Sep-2008 Reply | Forward This type of incidents prove that it may be a possessive idea that women are independent and they can stay any where they want. This type of incident is not a rare case. In the western countries also, this type of incident is taken place usually. Therefore, my suggestion is that each woman who is especially not in an executive position; should use to stay out side of home town with her own relative only. Women are always found weak comparing to their male counterpart. So they should understand this universal truth and they should proceed accordingly.
Call centre woman murdered in S Delhi flatBy: Urvi | 11-Sep-2008 Reply | Forward I totally disagree with you.In fact, what you suggest will take the progress women have made many steps back.In fact, there should be more policing in all cities where women are working independently.
