After playing the gun-totting,coke-snorting sidekick in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Kaminey,Delhi-based actor Chandan Roy Sanyal disappeared from the radar screens mysteriously. The 27-year-old has finally resurfaced,waving the script of Deepa Mehta’s much-awaited Midnight’s Children,in which he has bagged a role. “I auditioned for the part in September and have only recently signed the contract for the film. Beyond this,I cannot divulge

anything,” says Sanyal. The film,based on Salman Rushdie’s Booker Prize-winning novel,also stars Tabu,Irrfan,Soha Ali Khan,Shabana Azmi and Nandita Das,and has Rushdie as co-scriptwriter. Sanyal’s segment will be shot in Sri Lanka in April. The same month will also see back-to-back releases of three of Sanyal’s films — F.A.L.T.U ,Tell me O Khuda and Love You to Death.
