  • JNU seminar
    The Centre of Indian Languages, Jawaharlal Nehru University, will organise a two-day national seminar from Wednesday to coincide with its Foundation Day and alumni meet. The theme of the seminar is ‘Hindi, Urdu and Hindustani’. The inaugural address will be delivered by VN Rai, Vice Chancellor, Mahatma Gandhi International University, Wardha, while keynote addresses will be delivered by Hindi scholar Prof J M Parakh from IGNOU and Urdu scholar Qiser Shamim from the Central Wakf Board, both JNU alumni.

    Annual fest
    The Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Jyotiraditya Scindia, will inaugurate Kritva 2009, the International Management Institute’s annual cultural and management festival on Thursday. Kritva, a three-day festival, will feature performances by bands Euphoria and Motherjane.

    Fashion show
    Students of Pearl Academy of Fashion organised INTERMEZZO 2009, a fashion show to commemorate 60 years of the Indo-Swiss friendship treaty. It was held on October 24 at the Embassy of Switzerland. The theme was ‘Women’s eveningwear’, which reflected the traditional and modern values of Switzerland and India. A preliminary show had been organised on April 27 with the Swiss Ambassador Philippe Welti as the chief guest, where 120 third-year students showcased their designs.

    IGNOU signs MoU
    IGNOU will sign an MoU with Ericsson India Pvt Limited on Thursday for use of 3G mobiles in education delivery. This will allow IGNOU students to get 3G mobile services at the cost of just Rs 25 over their course fees. With 3G enabled technology in place, students will be able to access web pages, download files and video clips. IGNOU officials said the cost will come down further when enrolment figures go up.
