With the stage all set for the elections in Panchkula, the candidates are out in the field to woo their voters, taking up developmental issues or criticising wrong policies of the present government. Nainu Rohtaki talks to two of the candidates
Gyan Chand Gupta (BJP)
He promises overall development of the constituency after he is brought to power. “Panchkula, the mini capital of Haryana, has been exploited for the last 15 years and no developmental project has been undertaken in Panchkula. Promise:“One of the biggest reasons of zero development of Panchkula is the lack of coordination among the Municipal Council, Haryana Urban Development Authority and DC, Panchkula. If brought to power, I will improve the coordination among them and try to create a Panchkula development authority for overall development of the constituency,” said Gupta.

He claims that the wrong policies of the Congress have made the life of people worse than that of animals. A first-timer, Yograj said, “It was for the first time that I went to various colonies and noticed the condition of the residents and I could not stop crying. While Congress claims it would give flats to all of them, but at the same time it is asking the slum-dwellers to pay Rs 1800 per month as installments, not realising how would these poor people pay?”
