England boss Fabio Capello has revealed how he has fallen in love with the people, food and culture of his new life in London.
The Three Lions coach enjoys doing the grocery shopping near his Chelsea home and does not mind spending hours on Britain’s notoriously bad roads.
The 63-year-old Italian has been wowed by the warm welcome he has received on his travels up and down the country, not to mention the traditional British grub.
“I love the clubs’ hospitality and there’s always a range of good food, too. Wonderful fish, unmissable lamb and also, sometimes, Angus beef steaks. I also get to try typical English dishes like shepherd's pie which is a kind of ragu with potatoes,” Capello said.
“I have also discovered Lebanese cuisine here in London, in a wonderful restaurant near my house,” The Sun quoted him, as saying.
Capello has enjoyed a distinguished career as a club manager with the likes of Real Madrid, AC Milan and Juventus.
As a national manager he has more free time on his hands and feels London is the perfect place to enjoy it.
“This life is totally different from the life of a club coach. But you do get more free time and I am in a great place to spend that free time. London is ideal. I intend to spend time seeing musicals. They do them brilliantly here as well as concerts and plays.
“I love Mamma Mia! I have all the Abba songs in my head. I also adore Billy Elliot and really admire the young dancers. One of the things I really like about London is the wide appeal of the theatre,” Capello said.
