Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh has ordered the warring party leaders in Moga to fall in line and work as a united force for success of the February 5 rally to be addressed by him.
After the voices of infighting reached the Congress president,Amarinder asked senior leader Lal Singh to intervene and ensure peace among the warring groups. He had summoned sitting Moga MLA Joginder Pal Jain,Baghapurana MLA Darshan Singh Brar and Nihalsinghwala MLA Ajit Singh Shant to Chandigarh last week.
Jain said: While Darshan Brar has been entrusted with the task of organising the rally,I have been appointed the coordinator as the rally is being held in my constituency. It is my duty to check what kind of people will handle duties and who will be sitting on the stage. At the meeting in Chandigarh,we were asked to work in tandem and ensure a good crowd. The leaders have also been asked not to interfere in each others constituencies.
The bone of contention is,meanwhile, who will manage the stage. While on one hand,Jain feels he must be allowed to handle the stage, saying the rally is in my area, after all,Brar said it is his right to manage the stage for he is the organiser.
It was also learnt that from publishing advertisements in the media to who will arrange tea and lunch, the Congress leaders in Moga are finding it tough to put up a united front.
Brar, however, said: These are small issues and will be resolved soon. We are working to ensure that this rally is a huge success.
A list of 16 leaders, including the three MLAs and that of Panjgrain, was reportedly prepared in the presence of Lal Singh who will be given a seat on the stage.
