Most of us who tune in to Big 92.7,the local FM radio station, hear Anubhav Kalra every morning. But many have never seen him. Thats how a radio jockey works, always in the studio, Anubhav smiles to say. So when hes out of office,Anubhav loves to look at the world through the lens of his digital camera. I have been fascinated with gadgets ever since I was a child. The camera is something I picked up naturally, says the radio jockey who always has a camera on him. When I was young,I thought still cameras are used to make movies too. I would imagine myself making blockbusters then, laughs Anubhav. Even though work hours are long, the popular radio jockey makes sure he takes out time for shoots. I always carry my camera with me. I like the fact that you can capture moments and experiences in time, he says. Like recently when he decided to visit the Sukhna Lake early in the day. I didnt know that the migratory birds had arrived. Since I was carrying my camera,I took so many pictures. It was such a rewarding experience, shares the amateur photographer who has picked up the finer nuances of photography on his own over the years. I have never enrolled for a professional course. But I would always visit photographic exhibitions and spend time analysing pictures and making my own learning notes, admits Anubhav. And though he doesnt like to restrict himself to a particular genre or theme either,he does have a liking for the monsoons. When it pours,I am all charged with my camera. The season is quite a stimulus for me, laughs the radio jockey who,as he says, prefers to view the world through his lens. I keep making frames and shoot people, places, things¿ anything could interest me, he wraps up to say.
