Stereos stolen from four cars in Sector 16

Stereo thefts were reported from four adjoining houses in Sector 16, Panchkula, on February 2 earlier this year. The residents found the car glasses damaged with stereos and other important documents missing.

The police had also allegedly showed reluctance in registering a case.

September 15

Stereos stolen from seven cars in Sector 2

As many as seven cases of stereo theft were reported from Sector 2 on September 15. Around 5.30 in the morning, the residents claimed to have found the stereos missing from their cars and the police was informed immediately.

October 6

Stereos stolen from 10 cars in Sector 4

Stereos from as many as ten cars were stolen from residences in Sector 4 in the early hours of October 6.

Residents apprehensive

Talking to Newsline, Manoj Kumar, a resident of Sector 6, Panchkula, said, “The city is not safe for residents, as every second day some crime or the other is reported. Despite the fact that every time the police claim of getting vital clues, they fail to nab the accused.”

Kumar added: “It is high time that night duties are carried out responsibly by police officials. Round-the-clock patrolling is necessary to check such crimes.”

Officials answer

A senior officer said, “It seems to be the work of a gang as in all the cases the modus operandi appears the same. We are trying hard and will soon get a breakthrough in the case.” The official added that efforts were being made to increase the night patrolling in the city.
