Cardamom futures prices remained higher by Rs 31.30 or 2.40 per cent at Rs 1,335.50 per kg in futures trade today on increased buying by traders in view of rising spot market demand. Restricted arrivals from the Southern regions also supported the uptrend. On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX),cardamom for August contract surged by Rs 31.30 or 2.40 per cent to Rs 1,335.50 per kg in a trading volume of two lots. The spice for delivery in June-month traded higher Rs 12.70 or 0.95 per cent at Rs 1,349.90 per kg,with a business volume of 18 lots,while May-month contract also moved up Rs 6.90 or 0.51 per cent to Rs 1,366 per kg in 78 lots. Traders said,rising demand in spot markets against restricted arrivals from the southern producing regions mainly pushed up cardamom prices at futures market.
