A day after 50 labs were shut across the country preventing nearly 2,000 candidates from appearing for CAT,incidents of technical snags and students being unable to give the test continued here on Monday.
Two labs were shut at the Fr. Agnel Ashram Centre in Bandra. The candidates were sent notifications via emails and SMSs. There are total five centres each in the city and in Navi Mumbai.
Parag Chitale, who runs a CAT coaching centre, said,Some of my students informed me of a batch of 50 at the Saboo Siddik College in Byculla, only 10 could take the test and the rest were sent back because of log-in issues. The 40 candidates were not even given prior notifications.
However, despite repeated problems,Prometric, the US-based firm handling the first-ever online CAT exam, did not have any concrete plans to rectify the problem.
At a press conference in IIM-Ahmedabad,officials from IIM and Prometric assured that they will try their best to prevent any inconvenience to candidates and complete necessary repairs at the affected labs. IIM also assured that candidates who were not able to take the exam would be called for a re-test later.
Prometric is conducting the test in more than 360 testing labs at 104 individual locations across the country.
