The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a chargesheet on Thursday in the Patiala House courts against seven persons,including four MCD officials,in a case relating to corruption in the installation of street lights before the Commonwealth Games.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) had floated a tender for street lighting in the city in 2008,in which,according to the CBI,the seven persons named and a private firm entered into a criminal conspiracy to bag the contract worth Rs 34.53 crore.
Among the seven accused,four are MCD officials O P Mahala,the then superintendent Engineer with MCD; D K Sugan,the then superintendent Engineer,MCD; V Raju,then Accountant,MCD; Gurcharan Singh,the then Tender Clerk,MCD.
T P Singh and J P Singh,the then Directors of Sweka,the private firm; Mehal Karnik,a private person,affiliated to Philips India and Sweka have also been named in the chargesheet in the case.
