CBI files chargesheet in Scarlett murder case in Goa

The CBI chargesheeted two persons in connection with the 2008 murder case of British teenager Scarlett Keeling for allegedly outraging her modesty which lead to her death.

The CBI today chargesheeted two persons in connection with the 2008 murder case of British teenager Scarlett Keeling for allegedly outraging her modesty which lead to her death.

The chargesheet was filed against Samson DSouza and Placido Carvalho and the duo was charged under sections 304 (II) culpable homicide not amounting to murder,354 (assault or use of criminal force to a woman with an intent to outrage her modesty),328 (administrating stupefying drug with an intent to cause hurt).

The duo was also charged with destruction of evidence,the CBI,which was handed over the case following allegations that the local police is trying to cover up the case,said.

The chargesheet was filed today before a Childrens court in Goa,CBI officials said.

On February 18 last year,15-year-old Scarletts bruised and semi-nude body was found at the Anjuna beach in Goa.

Police had arrested DSouza,a barman and Carvalho,a drug dealer and charged them with allegedly drugging,raping and abandoning Scarlett to die on the beach. Both the accused are presently out on bail.

The chargesheet includes statements of 200 eye witnesses who saw Scarlett with the accused on the day of the alleged murder,statement of police and doctor who examined Scarletts body and also the statement of the victims mother Fiona Mackeown.
