For the second consecutive day the CBI questioned the son of Congress MP Vijay Darda, Devendra, for more than four hours in connection with alleged irregularities in coal blocks allocation to JLD Yavatmal Energy Ltd.

The agency had earlier questioned Devendra along with his cousin Rishi, son of Maharashtra Minister Rajendra Darda, on Monday.

Devendra, who has been named an accused in the CBI's FIR, was quizzed on business dealings between Lokmat group, owned by the Dardas and Jayaswals. Devendra was asked about information given by them at the time of application. He was asked about partnership with Jayaswal brothers, also accused in the case. In its FIR against JLD Yavatmal Energy Ltd, the CBI has named Vijay Darda along with Devendra, and other former and present directors, including Rajendra, Manoj Jayaswal, Anand Jayaswal and Abhishek Jayaswal. The CBI has booked Devendra in another case relating to alleged irregularities on part of AMR Iron and Steel which got Bander Coal Block in Maharashtra.

In its FIR, the CBI has alleged that JLD Yavatmal, in order to embellish its claim for the coal block, had fraudulently claimed in its application that it was jointly promoted, controlled and managed by the Lokmat group and IDFC Ltd, and claimed net worth of Rs 2544.19 crore of IDFC and Rs 73.38 crore of Lokmat group.
