CBI questions Kalmadi again

The CBI questioned the sacked chairman of Organising Committee and MP,Suresh Kalmadi,in connection with the Commonwealth Games scam.

The CBI on Tuesday questioned the sacked chairman of Organising Committee and MP,Suresh Kalmadi,in connection with the Commonwealth Games scam.

This is the second time that Kalmadi was questioned by the CBI,with the agency awaiting replies of letter rogatory (LR) sent to the UK for investigation into the installation of video screens during the Queen Baton’s Relay in 2009. Kalmadi was earlier called for questioning on January 5 during which he reportedly tried to deflect the blame on others, including the Ministry of Sports and Delhi government.

Coming out after 10 hours of questioning,Kalmadi blamed OC CEO Jarnail Singh and claimed he needs to be probed too as Singh was aware of all the decision taken by the OC. “I was asked about the decision on AM Films and A M cars. The OC has received only a fraction of the sanctioned amount while the rest of it had gone to other government departments,” he said.

The CBI said it will call him again. “We have asked him to furnish documents to support his claims. He never made any statements regarding Jarnail Singh to us but if there is any need to question other CWG officials,we may call them,” said a CBI officer.
