The alleged relationship of BJP MLA Dhruvnarayan Singh and his growing proximity with Shehla Masood prompted interior designer Zahida Parvez to eliminate her, the CBI said in a chargesheet filed in a special court in Indore on Friday.
The chargesheet, which was filed in the court of special CBI Judge Shubra Singh by agency's counsel Hemant Shukla, said Singh had no role in the murder.
Shehla, whom the CBI describes as "RTI activist and business woman" was shot dead outside her home in Koh-e-fiza locality on August 16, 2011, nearly three weeks after the legislator's birthday on July 26, the day he chose to be with Shehla ignoring Zahida, "which was the trigger for the crime".
Zahida, 36, in her personal diary on July 26 and 27, wrote about how he did not call her up even once on his birthday and did not speak a word the next day. She also said she gave him a piece of her mind ("Dhruv ko phone lagakar uski aisi ki taisi kar di thee...khub roi main").
The mother of two was angry because a person she had sent to spy on Singh saw him coming out of Shehla's house around 7 pm on July 27, said the chargesheet.
The interior designer ran an office in MP Nagar where she used to meet the 53-year-old. Her diary records moments of their physical intimacy, reads the 18-page chargesheet, accompanied by more than 1,000 pages.
Zahida's friend Saba Farooqui, 32, was privy to the affair and conspiracy, and is one of five accused. Sakib Ali (38), Irfan Ali (28) and Taabish Khan (27) are the others accused. Irfan was the one who shot Masood.
The chargesheet records how Zahida had fights with Singh, the son of a former chief minister of MP, over his alleged two-timing and his relations with other women, two of whom have been named.
