CBI suspects link between Batcha death and DB Realty

Asif and Agarwal were directors of Kusegaon Fruits and Vegetables Pvt Ltd.

The hearing in the 2G spectrum allocation scam took a fresh turn on Friday after the CBI alleged links between the suicide of former telecom minister A Rajas aide Sadhick Batcha,the disappearance of Batchas driver and DB Realty,whose director Shahid Balwa is in judicial custody.

Seeking an extension of the custody of Balwas cousin brother Asif Balwa and Rajiv Aggarwal,CBI prosecutor Akhilesh submitted before the CBI court: The cash transaction (between DB Realty and Green House Promoters),instance of Batchas driver reportedly going missing and his (Batcha) suicide,might have a link.

After Batchas death,his wife Reha Banu told police that their driver Salim ran away with Rs 6 crore last August but Batcha didnt file a police complaint as the driver was from to his hometown.

Asif and Agarwal were directors of Kusegaon Fruits and Vegetables Pvt Ltd. Asif was also the director of DB Realty in which Agarwal was an employee. The CBI claimed that both were instrumental in transferring Rs 200 crore to Kalaignar TV through bank accounts of Cineyug Films Pvt Ltd for securing benefits in allotment of spectrum.

Batcha,who was found dead at his residence last month,was managing director of Green House Promoters. He was accused of channelising money illegally obtained from the allocation of UAS licences.

Accepting links between the Balwas and Batcha,special CBI Judge O P Saini said: There is a statement on record that Green House Promoters Pvt Limited were having close relations with DB Realty and the witness also mentioned accused Rajiv Aggarwal.

Aggarwal has not disclosed the true facts with regard to his association with Green House Promoters, said CBI DSP SK Sinha.

The court sent Aggarwal to police custody till April 4 and Asif to judicial custody till April 15.
