  • A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team has arrived in Allahabad to probe alleged irregularities in the various exams conducted by the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB).

The officers visited the RRB’s Subedarganj office on Sunday, interrogated officials and seized documents related to examinations for the posts of switch man, assistant loco pilot, reservation clerk, goods guards, assistant station master and others.

While advertisements for these examinations came out in 2007, the tests were held in 2008. The results were declared in 2009.

“It is too early to say anything. Till we scan the whole examination process, we cannot comment on the involvement of anyone,” said an officer. The team also raided three computer centres, which used to work for the RRB on contractual basis.

The CBI team is likely to stay in Allahabad for a few more days, said a source.

The chairman of RRB, P K Sangi, could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
