Sleuths of the CBI unearthed a human trafficking racket on Monday in Navi Mumbai and rescued 34 girls. Acting on a tip-off,the officials conducted raids at two hotels in Vashi and arrested eight including two women for forcing these girls into flesh trade.
“We raided Hotel Kuber and Hotel Sai Chhatra in Vashi. After this,we learnt that some girls were being kept at Chembur’s Sindhi Colony also. We then raided the colony and rescued the girls from there too. We arrested Vitthal Patil (29),Rajneet alias Rajendra Saw (26),Raju alias Najunda Gowda (26),Mohammed Pervez Ansari (45),Pramod Saw (35),Vibash Roy (40),Sampa Roy (35) and Jasbir Kaur,” said CBI Joint Director Rishi Raj Singh. The CBI officials took the help of NGOs and formed teams to raid the hotels. Initially,the NGO representatives were sent as customers to meet pimps.
“The meeting between the NGO representatives and the pimps took place at Hotel Kuber. The pimps were paid Rs 21,000 for two girls. After speaking to both the girls,they told us that some more girls were being kept at Hotel Sai Chhatra. Immediately,we raided the hotel,” said Singh. He also said that medical tests revealed that eight of the girls are minors.
The officials recovered a sum of Rs 4,79,000 from the accused. “There are different rates for girls. Pimps get these girls from agents. After forcing them into prostitution,pimps will take most of the money that these girls earn,” said Singh.
The girls told the officials that they are hailing from West Bengal,Assam and Bangladesh. They were promised jobs in the city and many of them were promised roles in films also.
