The third FIR is regarding the incident of the encounter. The last one is against the 14 police personnel involved in the encounter lodged on a complaint by the deceased’s father RP Singh

Meanwhile, a massive condolence meeting was organized in Dehradun on Wednesday evening in which thousands of people including politicians from various parties and the family members of the deceased participated. The meet ended in a candle march.

In his address at the meeting, Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Mahendra Singh Tikait demanded an instant arrest of the police personnel accused of having killed Ranbir Singh in cold blood. Tikait said, "If the arrests do not take place there will be several more Ranbirs who will be killed.”

Several other speakers demanded that besides the police personnel involved in the encounter, action should also be taken against those who tried to protect the accused.
