CBSE Class XII: 3 touch the top at 97.2%

In a first,three students shared the top slot in the city in the Central Board of Secondary Education Class XII results which were declared on Wednesday morning.

In a first,three students shared the top slot in the city in the Central Board of Secondary Education Class XII results which were declared on Wednesday morning. Ayushi Katyal (Commerce) of Sacred Heart Convent School,Sunny Bawja (Commerce) and Srishti Arora (Medical) of Kundan Vidya Mandir bracketed the first position by bagging 97.2 per cent marks in their respective streams.

Harmilanjot Kaur of Sacred Heart Convent School topped the Humanities stream in the district by getting 95 per cent while Akshit Dhir of BCM School on the Chandigarh Road scored 96.4 per cent and topped the district in the non-medical stream.

Sharing his success mantra with Newsline,an aspiring chartered accountant,Sunny Bawja said,“There is an acute shortage of CAs in the country as compared to MBAs.” His father Balkrishan Baweja is a senior marketing executive with an English daily while mother Sunita Baweja is a homemaker.

Fond of music,surfing and chatting on the Internet,Sunny says,“It was hard work which paid the dividends although I had to take some extra coaching towards the end of the year.” With cent per cent marks in mathematics,Sunny owes his success to his parents and teachers.

Topper Ayushi Katyal also aspires to be a chartered accountant on the lines of her father Ashok Katyal while her mother Babita Katyal is a schoolteacher. With 100 per cent marks in business studies,Ayushi is a self-confessed bibliophile.

“Along with extra coaching,my schoolteachers helped me a lot with my studies,” she beamed. “This success is the outcome of sheer hard work put in by my daughter,” chipped in her proud father,Ashok Katyal.

For Srishti Arora,who also shares the top slot,medical profession is her calling. “My father Dr Satsh Arora is a neurosurgeon and mother Sudha Arora is an Economics lecturer at Phillaur. I,however,want to grow up to be a cardiac surgeon.” Known as a couch potato,she loves to paint and read.

By topping the district with 95 per cent marks,humanities topper Harmilanjot Kaur desires to be a judge. She said,“My parents faced many hardships and helped me a lot in achieving my target.” With a natural knack for dancing,Kaur says she was expecting 97 per cent marks.

Akhsit Peer,who topped the non-medical stream,too,owes his success to his family. “I want to take admission in IIT. I took extra coaching along with regular studies,” he said.
