The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) does not have the power to interfere over the issue of fee-hike in CBSE-affiliated schools, stated D R Yadav, Joint Secretary and Regional Officer, CBSE, Panchkula on Saturday. Yadav was the chief guest at the regional level science exhibition of CBSE organised at Green land Senior Secondary here.

“We ask the schools to provide the facilities in accordance with the fee they charge. But we cannot keep a check on the fee-structure of CBSE affiliated schools,” Yadav said. On the other hand, Amarjit Kaur, District Education Officer (Secondary) Ludhiana said,”We are yet to receive instructions from the state government for keeping a vigil on the private schools as far as the fee-structure is concerned. We can act only after getting these instructions.” She was also present at the regional level science exhibition of CBSE schools.

Speaking on the grading system, Yadav said,”The decision for introducing the grade system in class IX and XI is still in the pipeline. We are analysing the whole evaluation system before introducing it.”
