CBSE results declared,pass percentage up from last year

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Monday declared the results of its senior school certificate examination for all seven regions except Patna.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Monday declared the results of its senior school certificate examination (Class XII) for all seven regions except Patna. This year,the overall pass percentage has shown an increase but by a mere 1.84 per cent as compared to last year. However,the overall pass percentage recorded this year is 81.71 per cent.

Chennai region — which covers CBSE schools in Maharashtra,Goa,Karnataka,Andhra Pradesh,Tamil Nadu,Kerala,Puducherry etc. — recorded the highest pass percentage. The pass percentage of Chennai region is 91.32 followed by Ajmer and Delhi region,which registered a pass percentage of 85.50 and 84.45 respectively.

The total number of candidates who appeared for CBSE Class XII exams was 7,69,929,almost 7.85 per cent higher than last year. Of this,around 61,337 students appeared from the Chennai region.

Girls manage to steal the show yet again by registering a pass percentage of 86.93 as compared to boys’ pass percentage of 77.83.

CBSE spokesperson Rama Sharma said,‘’The performance of girls is going up each year. However,even boys have done well. As usual we have not declared any overall or regional toppers. But the schools can give out the names at their level.’’
