  • A Consortium of Chief Executive Officers for the companies operating from Vadodara was announced on Sunday to attract more investments to the regions in and around Vadodara.

The managing committee of the Baroda Management Association said the CEOs from Vadodara will be organised in a manner similar to the Bangalore Agenda Task Force (BATF), employing the Private Public Partnership (PPP) model to bring in changes in the region and encourage corporate social responsibility.

Ravi Uppal, CEO and MD of Larsen and Toubro Power Limited, will head the consortium.

According to Uppal, the vision document for the consortium will be released by June, which will spell out the goals and policies of the consortium.

“The CEO forum aims to bring captains of various industries on a common platform to further the management and social platform,” Uppal said after the inaugural address at the Vadodara Management Week (beginning today), organised by BMA.

BMA Managing Committee member Sandeep Purohit said: “Membership to the consortium is open to all. The existing member companies will be included in the list.”

Meanwhile, for the first time, the BMA business excellence awards for the year 2008 were given to three Vadodara-based companies based on the scale of their operation.

“It is for the first time that these awards were given based on their overall performance, including turnovers, and application of various management strategies to generate more employment,” added Purohit.

Among the winners include Matrix Telecommunication for the Small Scale Industries category, Philips Carbon Black Limited for the Medium Scale Industries and Gujarat Alkalies and Chemical Limited for the Large Scale Industries.
