Chahat Arora brought laurels to Saupin's School, Sector 32, by bagging a bronze medal in swimming during the 55th National School Games held in Kolkata (West Bengal) on October 25. Chahat is the third person from Chandigarh to have won a bronze medal. She has also bagged a silver medal during the CBSE National Games, Rohtak ( Haryana).
Punjabi University cyclists claim top honours
PATIALA: Punjabi University, Patiala, secured first position in the men's section of the All India Inter-University Cycling Championship in Patiala by securing 56 points, while Kerala University, Kerala, secured first position in women's category by pocketing 42 points. In men's section, Punjab University, Chandigarh finished second with 26 points while MGS University, Bikaner got third position collecting 15 points. In women's section, Punjabi Univesity, Patiala got second position with 39 points while Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar finished third scoring 5 points.
Manav Mangal lifts girls' U-14 title
Skipper Shyna led by example as Manav Mangal School, Sector 21, outplayed Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 37, by a margin of 29-17, 29-19 in the girls' Under-14 final to win the Chandigarh Inter-School Ball Badminton Tournament organised by the Education Department at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 23, on Wednesday. The Manav Mangal boys have already won the Under -14 years as well as Under 17 titles in this discipline this year. In the first semi-final, Manav Mangal recorded a 29-4, 29-5 win over Guru Harkrishan School, Sector 40. Meanwhile, in the second semifinals, Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 37, got the better of Baptist School, Sector 45, by a margin of 29-17, 29-18.
