In what could be fodder for Mulayam Singh Yadav’s rivals during the ongoing Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, the court of the special judge, Ghaziabad, today framed charges against Neera Yadav, former Noida CEO and Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary.
The charges have been framed in three cases involving largescale bungling in allotment of land worth crores of rupees in Noida when Yadav was at the helm between January 1994 and November 1995. The court also framed charges against IAS officer and former Noida Deputy CEO, Rajiv Kumar, and Mahesh Chandra Sharma, Chairman and Managing Director of Kailash Hospital in Noida.
The Mulayam government was forced to remove the “tainted” 1971-batch officer from the post of UP Chief Secretary on October 6, 2005, following an SC directive. Today, Special Judge, Anti-Corruption, Ghaziabad, Rama Jain, framed charges in respect to three chargesheets filed by the CBI.
The first chargesheet filed against Yadav pertains to allotment of land to herself and her two daughters.
The second chargesheet is against Yadav and Kumar and pertains to allotment of land to the latter.
The third chargesheet is against Yadav and Sharma, in the matter of allotment of land to the hospital.
CBI had registered a case against Yadav and others on the orders of the Supreme Court passed on a writ petition filed by Noida Entrepreneurs Association in 1998. On completion of investigation, seven chargesheets were filed by the CBI in the court of Special Judge, CBI, Ghaziabad.
