Charges framed in DSP murder case

The court of Additional Sessions Judge Paramjeet Singh Tuesday framed charges against accused in the double murder of DSP Balraj Gill and Monika Kapila. The court said that on February 2, 2012 the accused Harwinder Singh, Pritpal Singh and Umesh Karda intentionally caused the deaths of DSP Balraj Singh Gill and Monika Kapila and should be punished under Section 302 IPC. They also removed their belongings and mobile phones. Charges under Section 471 and 404 of IPC were also framed against the accused. The next date of hearing is on January 29.

LIT fined Rs 4,000 for delay in providing data

Ludhiana: The Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) was fined Rs 4,000 by the State Information Commissioner (SIC) Chander Parkash for not providing information to Gurcharan Singh of Rajguru Nagar within stipulated time. The orders were passed on January 3 and the payment is to be done by January 24. Gurcharan Singh had sought RTI application on February 15, 2012 regarding intervening wall of his house and the neighbour's. The executive officer, however, refused to give information saying it was third party information. The complainant moved SIC, who directed LIT to provide information. Gurcharan said even then partial information was supplied and on December 5, LIT gave an undertaking that they will supply complete information by December 12 but the same was not done. The SIC passed this order to reimburse charges incurred by complainant in visiting LIT office repeatedly.

GADVASU launches upgraded website

Ludhiana: The vice-chancellor of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Dr VK Taneja, launched the new website of the university Tuesday. "The new website is more user-friendly and has several extra features and is easier to navigate," said Taneja. Features include upcoming events, job notice, life on campus, link to consortium e-resources and faculty login for updating profiles. The address of the website remains the same www.gadvasu.in.
