Chargesheet filed against ‘ONGC bombing plotters’

The Maharashtra ATS filed a chargesheet today against Abdul Latif and Riyaz Ali,arrested three months earlier for an alleged conspiracy to carry out terror attacks on the offices of ONGC and two other locations.

The Maharashtra ATS filed a chargesheet today against Abdul Latif and Riyaz Ali,arrested three months earlier for an alleged conspiracy to carry out terror attacks on the offices of ONGC and two other locations.

According to police,the two had planned to set fire to the ONGC corporate headquarters building in Bandra (East),starting the fire in a room that contained the electric meters and fuseboxes.

Latif and Riyaz,brothers-in-law from Bandra (East) and Dahisar respectively,are accused of plotting strikes at the ONGC administrative office,Thakkar Mall in Borivali and Mangaldas Market in Kalbadevi. Along with the statements of three men who were allegedly asked to prepare passports to go to Pakistan via Dubai,investigators have also put together the testimony of several independent witnesses in the chargesheet.

The accused were not produced in the magistrate’s court. The court directed the police to make the chargesheet available to them in the Arthur Road jail.
