  • The Delhi Police have filed a 700-page chargesheet under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against the five men arrested for involvement in the murder of TV journalist Soumya Viswanathan.

All five accused — Ravi Kapoor, Ajay Sethi, Amit Shukla, Baljit Malik and Ajay Kumar — have been booked under relevant provisions of the MCOCA. The chargesheet has been filed in the court of Additional Sessions Judge S K Sarvaria.

Listing Kapoor as the mastermind of the gang, the chargesheet claims the accused were involved in more than a dozen cases of robbery, murder and intimidation.

The accused have also confessed to their involvement in most of the cases, it further stated. They have admitted to the killings of Vishwanathan and IT executive Jigisha Ghosh. The chargesheet points to the criminal antecedents of the accused and terms them as habitual offenders.

According to the chargesheet, the police have sufficient incriminating evidence to nail the accused; it also encloses a list of witnesses who could help prove the charges.
