Indian Robot Olympiad held

The seventh edition of the IRO (Indian Robot Olympiad) was held on October 1 at the MIT Academy of Engineering ALandi, Pune. Students between the age group of nine to 17 years from 35 schools participated in the event. They were divided into three categories, Primary School, Junior High and Senior High. The winners of each category would qualify for the finals, which would take place at New Delhi on October 11 and 12. Subsequently the winners would represent India at the World Robot Olympiad 2012 in November in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. All the participants were provided the material, software and training to create their Robots on the theme 'robots connecting people'. Dr. Y.J. Bhalerao, Principal, MIT's Maharashtra Academy of Engineering, said that it would teach to students science concepts and fraternity for industry institute interaction

Mindspark from Oct 5

The College of Engineering, Pune's annual inter-college technical event-Mindspark will begin from October 5. The sixth edition of the event will be held over three days. Karan Patil, the Technical Secretary of MindSpark says, "Technology has evolved through the ages and has helped society progress along with it. We wish to portray this in our festival." The competition will be divided into 12 modules which will feature an total of 53 events and prizes worth Rs. 20,00,000. Apart from the earlier events like Code Junkie or the workshop on Ethical Hacking, there are new additions this time. Neo Module, one such new feature, will have two events – DeTechTive and Googler, which will help participants realise their aptitude for engineering amongst others.
