Chhattisgarh claims women’s cricket title

  • Despite Naina's superb bowling performance (5 for 24) Uttar Pradesh lost to Chhattisgarh by 50 runs in the final of the Junior National Women's Cricket Championship orgainsed by Chandigarh Women's Cricket Association, played at the Sector 16 Stadium in Chandigarh on Friday.

    Batting first, Chhattisgarh posted a total of 100 runs. Vijay (26) and Manjit (29) were the main scorers for Chhattisgarh. Naina scalped five wickets for Uttar Pradesh. In reply, Uttar Pradesh were bundled out for mere 50 runs. The trio of Deepti (3 for 25), Vijay Laxmi (3 for 13) and A.Khan (3 for 12) were the successful bowlers from the winning side. Chaya of UP was declared as best batswoman, while Naina was adjudged best bowler of the tournament.
