The notice, sent yesterday by the commission to Maru and Marine Drive police station, said the hearing on the complaint will take place on August 16.

"If Maru or the police officials are not present, then hearing will take place ex-parte," said the notice signed by commission's under secretary S S Supe.

During the hearing, Maru will first have to justify and explain how a complaint is made against Khan, only then the commission will decide future course of action.

In his complaint, Maru said, "Shahrukh Khan, an enormous celebrity, who the people of India, particularly children, emulate and follow, has harmed the future of our nation by corrupting minds of children by uttering filthy and dirty abuses in public."

Maru also said the children were trying to emulate the actor and uttering the same abuses.

He listed seven alleged offences committed by Khan, including hurling abuses in public before children, misbehaving in a drunken state at a public place, indecent behaviour and unlawful assembly.

On May 16, Khan was involved in a row with security personnel and Maharashtra Cricket Association officials at the Wankhede Stadium ground after his team Kolkata Knight Rider's victory over Mumbai Indians.
