  • RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat today said that India should view any conciliatory and friendly gestures from China with skepticism as the neighbouring country was merely trying to buy time for its own development and to prepare for a future offensive.

Addressing the audience at a function here, he said that India needs to remain vigilant as China can turn hostile at any time. He opined that various developments in China were possible threats to India, including the construction of a dam on the Brahmaputra.

“China’s efforts to forge friendships with our neighbouring countries, Burma, Sri Lanka and Maldives could be disturbing developments and India should not let them slip out of its hands, as on the other side Pakistan is actively abetting terrorism against India”, he said. He observed that Nepal has already slipped out of India’s hands.

He also blamed the indecisiveness of the Indian government to deal with internal security threats in the country as one reason for the increase in differences among people. “There is little hope of action from politicians as the politics in the nation is full of corrupt and visionless leaders, who are filling their pockets as a poor villager continues to get targeted by Naxalites and Maoists in far-off villages”.

He blamed globalisation for the growing unrest across the world due to caste- and class-based divisions and said that now all eyes are on India to provide a solution. “At this point, the RSS has the capacity to bind all castes, communities, languages and traditions together under the aegis of Hindutva, which can make India forge ahead as a world leader,” Bhagwat said.
