China experts to ‘educate’ India on its new regime

In a bid to reach out to New Delhi, China has decided to send five experts led by high-profile expert on China's leadership transition, Li Junru, to "educate" Indian political leadership about the intricacies of the fresh changes in the new regime under Xi Jinping. They will arrive in New Delhi on November 26.

Li Junru is one of Beijing's top experts on the new leadership and its vision, as he was the former vice president of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Party School and a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee.

On the day of the leadership change on November 14, he was the key expert on the official broadcaster CCTV explaining the changes to the Chinese audience and the international world. India is one of the chosen countries where Beijing feels there is a need to educate and inform the political leadership and the think-tank intelligentsia about the recent changes and what it means, and also remove any misgivings about the new ideas on the table.

This has been necessitated after a range of queries to the Chinese establishment raised by India and other global players as to why number of CPC politburo members have been reduced from 9 to 7.

"To China, India is not only an important neighbour but also an indispensable partner in international affairs," Deng Xijun, charge d'affaires at the Chinese embassy in New Delhi, said.
