'China wants to have cordial relations with India and India would like to have very friendly relations with China.'

India made clear on Wednesday its objection to China's participation in projects in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, saying it treats any such activity as "illegal".

External Affairs Minister S M Krishna said India has also taken up with China the matter related to issuance of visas to Kashmiris on loose sheets instead of passports and asked it to apply uniform visa norm for all Indian nationals.

"Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India. Any activity by any country in Jammu and Kashmir is illegal and this has been made known to all concerned," Krishna told reporters in Bangalore in response to a question about Chinese participation in developmental projects in PoK.

China is assisting Pakistan in building a mega power project and construction of a highway in Karakoram range in PoK. Chinese President Hu Jintao, during his meeting with Pakistan Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani in Beijing recently, emphasised his country's commitment to these projects.

Krishna, who held talks with his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi yesterday, said the matter relating to issuance of visas to Kashmiris was discussed.

"They (Chinese side) said they made no discrimination. We are insisting that there should be a uniform visa norm for Indian nationals," he said.

To a poser about India not being seen as assertive vis-a-vis China, he said New Delhi seeks relations with everyone as equal and based on mutual respect, regardless of any nation's economic or military might.

India :Nation State?By: vinay | 30-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward Please do not expect any strong nationalism from the Congress Government.
Registering complaintsBy: RMNanda | 30-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward We have taken up with our counter part in China very strongly? But how they take up our complaint is the question. They don't give a damn.We need to have a different approach to tackle such issues.Registering a complaint does not work with Chinese.Lets get wise now and act differently.
Tibet and ChinaBy: tvbkmurthy | 30-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward If in the name of history china claims parts of other countries,India has abetter case. When the entire world was gropping dakness Indians englightened Africa and Europe.Scientific knowledge and Mathematical symbols is gift by India to the world civilisation. Also the Indian supremacy goes to the timrs of Mahabharatha. The geographical contours of India extended to almost all the countries in the north-west,north.north-east and south Asean lands. The Arabic numbers prevalent in the west are from Bharath.Past has been an experience.Perhaps no other country has the history, that India holds.To-day Tibet is virtual colony China.Even if India agreed china's suzernity, china has no right to treat Tibetans as tehey are being done.India should revoke the pledges it made during the panch-sheel days.Let them recall the late prime minister Herold Wilson's statemant that Briton's borders lie in The Himalayas in 1962.When the other party fails to keep prmises India too Can expose china.
A ploy.By: tvbkmurthy | 30-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward Indians are always of the shortest memory.Every time they meet the chinese counterparts, say the discussions took place in an atmosphere of cordility and tranquility.Soon we make a stsatement that every thing is quite normal and both the leaders agreed to improve bi-lateral relationships keeping aside the prennial border issues."they agreed to meet again at --" is another tag.Let us not forget that topics not 'dicussed or not mentioned' should not be treated as solved. It is postponing the head-ache.Further the chinese diplomacy has worked on a stereotyped modus operandi. They rake up a problem as apssing phenomena and after a time pour life into it.Again leaders ignore it for some more time and take concrete steps like what they did in kashmir (seperate passports for kashmeres to visit china). Thus they know how to choose the timing to embarass India.Also.the chinese have the strange capacity to drag India into dispute. So, what India needs to do is to reply in the same tone.
Gutless upaBy: Indi | 29-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward Instead of just barking, why cant you useless politicians take stern steps such that china does not dare in anti Indian activities. Ban all chinese products in India. All Indian IT companies should ban china and door should be closed on china. Does upa has the guts to do all these? Do tit for tat. Tell that tibet is a disputed region and make efforts to claim manasa sarovar. Close the borders with china and pakistan and make them solid.
