A 32-year-old software engineer from China was found dead in the swimming pool of Hyatt Regency,a five-star hotel in Viman Nagar on Pune-Ahmednagar Road on Monday night. The police have identified the deceased as Jionghui Liang from Guangdong,China.
The cause of the death has not been ascertained. His relatives in China who were on their way to Pune asked the cops to wait for them before conducting a post-mortem. Jionghui worked with HSBC in China. He came to India on a business visa on November 6 for an official project at HSBCs office in Kalyani Nagar,Pune. His stay was arranged at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Investigation so far revealed that he checked into the hotel at around 4.30 pm on November 6. He stayed in room number 538 located on the fifth floor of the hotel.
Senior police inspector Kishor Jadhav of Yerwada police station told mediapersons that Jionghui went to the swimming pool of the hotel at around 9.30 pm on Monday.
But after sometime,the hotel authorities found him lying unconscious in the pool. The hotel staff rushed him to the Columbia Asia Hospital in Kharadi. He was however pronounced dead at the hospital.
The hotel authorities then informed the police. The Yerwada police sent the body to Sassoon General Hospital. The police said that post-mortem of the body was not performed as the relatives of the deceased requested the cops to wait till they come to Pune. Jionghuis relatives are expected to reach Pune by Tuesday night.
DCP (Zone IV) Manoj Patil said the body was kept at the morgue in Sassoon hospital. The police said that Jionghui landed at the Mumbai airport on November 6. He was supposed to be in Pune for about six more days.
