Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday urged the hospitality industry to set up hotels in Chitrakoot for tapping the tourism potential of the area. He was addressing a public meeting after inaugurating an airstrip at Chitrakoot and distributing cheques of Kanya Vidya Dhan scheme and unemployment allowance.

The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group was directly involved in the function. The backdrop for the stage was erected by the group while the usual official background was relegated to one side. CMD of Lalit Suri Hospitality Group Jyotsana Suri received Akhilesh at the air strip and was present on the stage during the function.

Responding to their hospitality, Akhilesh said: "I invite you to set up a hotel in this area. Our government will extend all possible support. This area has lots of opportunities for the tourism industry."

Akhilesh also visited Jagat Guru Ram Bhadracharya Handicapped University and laid the foundation stone for a library building.

The CM announced that Manikpur will be upgraded to tehsil. He also announced 24-hour power supply, a railway overbridge, strengthening of roads connecting old forts and places of historical importance in Chitrakoot. He said the Ramayan Mela, started by Dr Ram Manohar Lohia, will be given the status of state-level fair. Chitrakoot will get a degree college and the newly-built air strip will be extended.
