CII holds workshop on workplace environment

  • The Punjab state council of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organised an awareness workshop on ‘Work environment, health & safety - Best practices’ in Ludhiana on Friday. The objective of the workshop was to provide knowledge about ways to improve the environment, safety situation and employees’ health at the workplace.

    Nidhi Sharma and Amandeep Kaur from CII-ITC Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development (CESD), New Delhi, took the participants through key modules of waste minimisation, hazardous waste management, chemical management and transportation of hazardous substances, among others.

    Around 50 delegates from various industries like engineering, food, textile and forging attended the workshop. S S Bhogal, chairman, CII Ludhiana zonal council, said, “In today’s scenario, businesses operate in markets that have a growing awareness about issues such as occupational health.” ENS
