At the Indian International Centre this weekend, a film festival that does some myth-breaking will discuss topics such as schizophrenia, AIDS and the role cinema plays in societal response. The four award-winning films have Om Puri, Mita Vashisht, Atul Kulkarni, and Sonali Kulkarni, among others. This three-day film festival that started on Thursday is promoted by theatre personality and actor Dr Mohan Agashe, who stars in one of the movies. This festival aims at the authentic and correct portrayal of these diseases/disorders. Talking about a film such as Taare Zameen Pe, Agashe said, "Before the movie, school principals thought that learning disabilities were a myth. Now, they call me for workshops."
