Inspired by his recent visit to Israel,Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has urged the people of his state to make optimum use of water.
Hooda, who was in the city to take part in a private function, termed his Israel visit as successful and said Israelis have overcome a natural disadvantage through hard work. The natural conditions in Israel are not conducive to agriculture as there is a scarcity of water. The underground water there is also brackish, the climate is cool and the soil is also of a desert type. Even then they are into agriculture and reaping benefits, Hooda said.
He pointed out that sewerage water is used for irrigation purposes in Israel. Haryana needs to adopt a similar thinking and module,he added. The state is observing 2011 as the Year for Water Conservation. The aim of the government is to educate the public about the importance of water and motivate them to save every drop of water, the Hooda added.
