A 25-year-old doctor, who has also done an MBA course from IIM-Kozhikode, jumped to death from the eighth floor of his office building in the Connaught Place area on Monday morning.
Police said Gaurav Muralidhar Patil from Bhusawal in Maharashtra leaped from the winding staircase inside Ashoka Estate building and fell on the basement around 9.30 am on Monday.
A suicide note was found on him. The note says: "I have completed the search for truth and now know my destination. I thank the people who have helped me explore the truth about life. I want to donate my organs and don't want any inquiry into the matter."
A diary was found with the suicide note. "He reached office around 9 am, wrote the suicide note in English and put it in his wallet. Minutes later, he walked to the stairway on his office floor, jumped and fell on the basement. He landed on his feet and suffered extensive fractures. He was taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival," a police officer said.
Police said Patil, a bachelor, used to share a rented accommodation in West Patel Nagar in Central Delhi with his friend Ankit from Jaipur.
Ankit, who works at World Trade Center in Connaught Place, told police that his roommate used to read a lot of material on philosophy and had been depressed for a long time. But Patil never dropped any hint that he would take his life, Ankit said.
Patil got his MBBS degree in 2009 from a college in Maharashtra. After getting his MBA from IIM-Kozhikode (2010-2012 batch), he came to Delhi and was working as consultant with the Indian Medical Sciences Health Information and Consulting Services.
Police said the body has been kept in a mortuary and would be handed over to his parents. Police have initiated inquest proceedings.
