The state government has appointed Thane ACP Rashmi Karandikar to investigate the allegations of harrassment made by a lady constable against her senior.

According to the constable,who is posted at Kapurbadi police station,she had written a complaint to a senior police inspector about the incident. However,the officer refused to register her complaint,she claimed.

In a hearing on September 20,the Bombay High Court had directed that a lady officer of the rank of ACP from either the Mumbai or Thane division should investigate the case.

Three bikes set afire

Three parked motorcycles were set ablaze near the Orchid Hotel in Vile Parle on Monday. We were informed that three bikes had been set ablaze. We rushed to the spot and tried to douse the flames. The Fire Brigade was also informed, said a police officer. They suspect a miscreant set the bikes afire.
