Nigdi: 2-year-old girl electrocuted
A two-year-old girl died of an electric shock while playing near her house in Bodhnagar Ota Scheme area in Nigdi on Monday evening. The Nigdi police said the incident took place around 7.30 pm when the girl, Ishika Mallesh Atargi, was was playing with her friends in an alley near her house. Eyewitnesses told the police that Ishika had got into a pit of stagnant water when she got the electric shock. She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead on arrival. Her body has been sent to Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital for postmortem.
Man run over by bus
A middle-aged man lost his life after being run over by a speeding PMPML bus on Monday. The Kasba Peth police said the incident took place near Shaniwarwada around 6.30 pm . The bus that was going towards Shaniwarwada allegedly hit the pedestrian when he was crossing the road. "He had sustained severe injuries and died later. His body was taken to Sassoon hospital for postmortem. He is yet to be identified," said an official. Police have arrested the bus driver,
Madan Salunke.
Gangster gets bail
The Pune police on Monday arrested gangster Gajanan Marne alias Maharaj for putting up a 10X10 feet flex board at Padmavati Chowk in June last year without obtaining requisite permission from the PMC. Marne has been arrested under Section 447 (criminal trespass) of the IPC and relevant Sections of the Maharashtra Prevention of Defacement of Property Act. "The flex was spoiling the city's skyline and appeared that the motive was to distract commuters and create terror among people," read the police complaint. Judicial Magistrate (First Class) K P Jain-Desarda granted Marne bail upon furnishing a personal bond of Rs 15,000. Advocate Vijaysinh Thombre represented Marne.
