For any trader, boosting sales is an uphill task. Big companies spend crores of rupees to rope in brand ambassadors to jack up their sales and make a niche in the market. But small-time corn sellers in the city have hit upon a novel idea to boost sales. They have put computerised posters of Bollywood stars on their rehris, who are seen endorsing their products. Undoubtedly, the idea has worked wonders for their businesses.
In all these hoardings, popular film actors are shown holding corns. "Since the day I have up the poster, my sales have increased manifold," says Santosh Paswan, a corn-seller.
"Nearly 100 such rehris are functional in the city and a majority of them have these hoarding," says another seller Ram Niwas.
And it does not cost moon to make Shahrukh Khan, Aishwariya, Preity or Hritik to endorse these products. "We have to shell out somewhere between Rs 200 and Rs 300. They are made at a computer lab in Jawaddi," quipped Lakhan Singh, another fried corn seller who operates in the Sarabha Nagar market. Although corn sellers have been able to boost their sales, they are oblivious to the fact that these actors can sue them in the court of law.
