The Centre has released Rs 18.10 crore to Ludhiana for sewerage facilities, including a treatment plant, under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). Disclosing this here on Tuesday, Ludhiana MP and Congress leader Manish Tewari said he received a communication from Union Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath in this regard.
The MP further said the total cost of the project, approved by the ministry, is Rs 241.39 crore. While 50 per cent of the funds will be provided by the Centre, the state government will bear the remaining expenses, he added. Tewari said the Centre will release more fund from time to time and depending on the work completed.
