City police launch online drive to verify strangers

  • The Ludhiana police today started the stranger verification drive. Ludhiana SSP Dr Sukhchain Singh Gill formally launched the drive at the Community Policing Resource Centre (CPRC) at District Police Headquarters.

    Addressing a press conference here today, SSP Dr Gill said migrants can get themselves verified online by logging on to www.ismic.org of the Punjab Police. The SSP said the drive had been launched to verify the antecedents of migrants settled in the city from various other parts of the country.

    Gill said all verifications would be done online by the Inter-State Migration Information Centre of the Punjab Police. The SSP said in 2006 too, the city police had started a drive to verify the migrant persons in the city.

    Terming it the need of the hour, SSP Gill said the city had developed a lot with in the recent years and it had turned out to be the biggest industrial hub of the state.
