Noel nets two in Miracle
Noel Mendonca's twin strikes were the highlight of Miracles FC fluent 5-0 win over LIC SC in a Third Division match of the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) League played at the St. Xavier's Ground, Parel on Monday. Neil Das, Surya Singh and Sonnu Darshi netted one each to complete the tally. Later in closely fought encounter, Millat FC 'A' prevailed over Bharat FC by a narrow 2-1 margin. Parman Khan and Gulham Mohd were on target for Millat, while Allwin Chandran scored for Bharat FC.
Results: Lokhandwala FC 2 (Umang Lakhani, Philip Sahil) beat BPCL Refineries 1 (C.K. Shetty); Miracles FC 5 (Noel Mendonca 2. Neil Das, Surya Singh, Sonnu Darshi) beat L.I.C. 0; Millat FC 2 (Parman Khan, Gulham Mohd) beat Bharat FC 1 (Allwin Chandran).
Sportstar Trophy from today
The 27th Sportstar Trophy Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) under-19 selection trial tournament will be played from Oct. 30 to Nov. 22. The tournament will begin with a three-day round-robin league match between Vijay Manjrekar XI and Vijay Merchant XI and between Dattu Phadkar XI and Khandu Rangnekar XI on Oct. 30. Manjrekar XI has won the tournament a record 13 times.
