City to host Western India Amateur Ladies Golf Open

The Poona Golf Club in association with city-based Marvel Realtors is organising the 60th Western India Ladies Open Amateur Golf Championship at the Golf Club,Yerawada from November 17-19.

The championship is open to women amateur golfers with a handicap of 0 -12. The winner of the championship shall be the player who returns the lowest gross score over 54 holes. “The tournament had been hosted at the BPGC in 2007 which tennis Leander Paes had graced. In 2008,the WIGA was hosted at Kensville Golf & Country Club in Ahmedabad where the chief guest was India’s leading pro golfer Jeev Milkha Singh. We are happy to host the tournament at the Poona Club Golf Course this time around”,said Asha Shah,captain of ladies section of the Bombay Presidency Golf Club Limited,(BPGC),based in Chembur,Mumbai.

“We are very happy to sponsor the 60th Western India Amateur Ladies Golf Championship Tournament. The participants would indeed have the experience of a life time when they will witness the challenging playing conditions of the international standard and state of art golf course at Pune” said Prithviraj S Solanke of Marvel Realtors.

85 players are participating in the tournament.
